Karachi, Pakistan — Karachi police confirmed on Sunday the arrest of a suspect accused of fatally stabbing a 7-year-old boy and seriously injuring two others in a violent assault in Orangi Town earlier this week. The suspect, allegedly motivated by personal grievances, was apprehended after a swift investigation by law enforcement, calming a city rattled by recent violent crimes.
Alleged Family Dispute Leads to Deadly Attack
On Wednesday, residents of Orangi Town were stunned as news spread that a young boy had been killed, and his 5-year-old sister, Aleeza, along with their mother, Rimsha, had been hospitalized with injuries from a sharp weapon. Police Surgeon Dr. Summaiya Syed reported that the deceased child had experienced severe head trauma, resulting in significant bleeding.
“The preliminary investigation suggests personal enmity,” a spokesperson from the District West Police said, pointing to a potential family dispute. By Sunday, law enforcement officials confirmed they had detained a close relative, Sameer Ali Hashmi, who is said to be linked to the victims through Rimsha’s extended family. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Tariq Elahi Mastoi stated that Hashmi allegedly used a knife to attack Rimsha and her children, with Rimsha sustaining injuries while attempting to shield her children.

This tragic incident marks the second familial attack in Karachi in a week, coming just days after four women were discovered murdered in their Lea Market apartment in the early hours of Saturday morning. In a parallel investigation, authorities apprehended a relative of the victims for his alleged involvement in that crime. The four women, whose throats had been slit, were discovered in different rooms of the apartment, leaving Karachi residents in shock.
